Great guide, thanks for posting it!
How do I get a password from the modem supplier?
Hi Rick,
The address to the Ambit Model #U10C018 is http://192.168.100.1 and the default User Name and Password is user. Let me know when you get this email.

Hello Walt
I have a small problem. I have bought my wife a new Dell Lap top PC and I do not know what the Ambit Cable Modem Model # Uioc018 passphrase or Secutity Key is. I have typed in the defalt “USER” but it still does not except it. I am also running my main unit from it by way of a cable and also my wifes older E Machine Lap top is wireless. Where do I go from hear?
Thanks for your support

Hi Roger,
I seem to remember that one of the other “user name” defaults is “root” without the ” “. Try the “user” and “root” in all the combinations and see if it will open it.

Try the following.
Username: Admin
Password: cableroot
Stacy’s Username & PW worked on mine but it’s no different than using the default user Userna,e & PW cept that you can restore the unit to Factory Default. Is there a way to actually make changes to the firmware, as in a Linksys Router?
Rob -
Correct, re: user/pass. No, you cannot (typically – not always) modify the firmware. Those are changes that are pushed by your cable company to the modem. Rarely will they push down a new firmware unless there’s a change that benefits them, or they’re rolling out a new service that requires an updated firmware.
