If you’re tired of your kids, room-mates, spouse or significant-other messing up your desktop and/or settings, just create a separate account for them. The hardest part will be getting them to use it ..

  1. First, make sure that you have administrative privileges, as they will be required to create an additional account.
  2. Select the Apple menu and then System Preferences…
  3. Click Accounts
  4. Click to enlarge
  5. You will likely need to unlock the Accounts window. Select the lock icon and enter your password
  6. Click to enlarge
  7. Click the plus sign (+) to add a new account
  8. Enter the required information in the spaces provided. Be sure that the box labeled Allow user to administer this computer is not checked, unless you’re certain you want this person to be able to make all kinds of changes to your system. Click Create Account when you’re done.
  9. Click to enlarge

  10. Depending on your settings, you may be prompted to enable or disable Automatic login. If you’re setting up an additional account for your child, and you wish to restrict your childs Internet access (Parental Controls), please select Turn Off Automatic Login.
