Denna ska kort tutorial/överblick går dig steg-för-steg through installation, inställning - upp och genom att använda Google det skrivbords- sökandet för Linux - specifikt i Ubuntu.
- Besök http://desktop.google.com/linux/ och nedladdning Google som är skrivbords- för Linux (.debna sparar). En gång har nedladdningen avslutat, dubblett-klickar spara.
- Paketera montören ska öppet. Klicka Installera paketerar knäppas.
- Skriv in ditt administrativa lösenord för att fortsätta.
- Klicka, när installationen har avslutat, Nära knäppas.
- Se till Status: är Samma version ar redan installerad och därefter tätt paketeramontören.
- På ditt skriva, hållen besegrar alt stämma och slå F2. Skriv in gdlinux och klicka Körning.
- Här ska du behov att avgöra, om du önskar att möjliggöra Avancerade särdrag eller inte. Det betyder inte egentligen vad du väljer - du kan alltid ändra ditt varar besvärad mer sistnämnd. Jag möjliggj橬一j dem.
- Efter du har gjort ditt primat, Google skrivbords- sökande den ska symbolen visas i den huvudsakliga panelen (de övre högra tränga någon av ditt avskärmer).
- Rätt-klicka Google den skrivbords- sökandesymbolen som är vald Index och därefter Indexstatus…,
- Härifrån ska du ser statusen av Google det skrivbords- sökandet första som indexerar. Klicka Skrivbords- preferenser anknyta från det övre högra tränga någon.
- På Indexera för lokal fliken du kan välja typerna av, sparar att du önskar att Google det skrivbords- sökandet ska göra tillgängligt i dina sökanden. Du kan också tillfoga specifika mappar till sökandet, om de inte är inklusive vid standard. Eller ta bort standardsökandemapparna, om du inte önskar deras tillfredsställer indexerat. Klicka Gmail flik, om du önskar att inkludera dina Gmail meddelanden i Google det skrivbords- sökandet.
- Förlägga en kontroll i den märkta boxas Indexera och sök e-posten i mitt Gmail kontoskriv in därefter ditt Gmail Username och lösenord i de förutsatt att utrymmena. Klicka Räddningpreferenser när du göras. Välj Skärm flik.
- From here you can customize the various display options (Number of Quick Find results, Number of results per page, etc). Click Other when you’re done.
- The Other tab is really just a place to enable or disable the Advanced features. When you’re done (if you’ve made any changes) click Save Preferences and close out Firefox/your browser.
- Tap the control (ctrl) key on your keyboard twice to bring up the Google Desktop Search window. Enter in something.. (keep in mind, your index is probably still building, which means not all of your files will be searchable yet). You’ll get a list of files and more options to search. If you select See all results in a browser …
- … your browser will launch, and the files will be displayed.

For ubuntu amd64, I just forced the installation of the 32 bit package. I had previously installed all the 32 bit libraries (I needed them for skype too) and everything works great!
For 64 bit ubuntu you need to install:
ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk
This lets you use 32 bit google earth on your 64 bit system.
for 64 bit users…
sudo dpkg –install –force-all google-desktop-linux_1.0.1.0060_i386.deb
works fine for me!!
I like your tutorial. I’ve got one thing to mention: you need at least 1GB os free space for google desktop to start indexing, otherwise it will be running but nothing will be indexed

been running since I saw the first digg about it yesterday. Still at only 0.1% indexed. Running for 20 hours and it still says it will take 5.8 idle hours… the same as when it was first installed. I think they still have some bugs to address in this.

In MsWindows the google desktop can indexing this.
