Dit leerprogramma zal u in het installeren, vestiging en het gebruiken gtkpod om uw iPod in Ubuntu te beheren begeleiden. Hoewel de te installeren stappen gtkpod voor Ubuntu (of om het even welke distributie Linux die de Synaptische Manager van het Pakket) gebruikt specifiek zijn, kunnen de stappen eigenlijk te gebruiken gtkpod op om het even welke distributie worden toegepast Linux.
Nota: als u geen Ubuntu gebruikt, bezoek gtkpod downloadspagina om gtkpod voor uw versie van Linux/*nix/BSD enz. te verkrijgen.

Het installeren gtkpod in Ubuntu
- Open de Synaptische Manager van het Pakket door te selecteren Systeem -> Beleid -> De synaptische Manager van het Pakket. U zult uw wachtwoord voor Synaptisch aan lancering moeten ingaan.
- Klik Zoek de knoop vanaf de bovenkant van Synaptisch, gaat binnen gtkpod en klik Zoek.
- Klik de doos naast gtkpod ingang en uitgezocht Teken voor installatie.
- Klik Ben van toepassing knoop.
- Een summier venster zal vragend u lijken om te bevestigen dat u wenst om het pakket te installeren. Klik Ben van toepassing om verder te gaan
- Synaptisch zal nu downloaden en zal gtkpod installeren.
- Nadat de installaties succesvol waren, klik Sluit knoop.
- Stop in uw iPod, als het niet reeds is. Afhankelijk van uw huidige opstelling, een programma zoals Rhythmbox of Amarok zou kunnen lanceren. Als het, het sluiten. Lancering gtkpod (in Ubuntu doe dit door te selecteren Toepassingen -> Geluid & Video en toen gtkpod)
- Het belangrijkste gtkpodvenster zal openen. Klik Lading iPod knoop.
- Afhankelijk van welke iPod u hebt en waar het heeft opgezet, kunt u moeten helpen gtkpod één of andere info bepalen. Begin door te klikken Doorblader knoop.
- Selecteer Het Systeem van het dossier van Plaatsen kolom en toen media omslag. Selecteer uw iPod en klik dan O.K. knoop.
- Koos nu uw iPod van Model: daling onderaan lijst. Aangezien ik eerste gen iShuffle heb, selecteerde ik het (die in x9724 resulteert). Klik O.K. wanneer u wordt gedaan.
- Als u een bericht van de Waarschuwing enkel wordt klik O.K.
- Terug in gtkpod, klik Dossiers button to begin adding some music to your iPod.
- Navigate to your music, select a track or two and click Open.
- Click the Save Changes button and the files should be loaded on to your iPod and saved.
- Repeat the above three steps until your iPod is loaded up. Note: you can add entire directories of music by using the Dirs button in gtkpod.
Launching gtkpod in Ubuntu each time you plug in your iPod
- Select System -> Preferences -> Removable Drives and Media.
- Select the Multimedia tab and then click the Browse… button in the Portable Music Players section.
- Assuming you installed gtkpod in the default location, select File System from the Places column, then the usr folder and finally the bin folder. Scroll down to gtkpod, select it and then click the Open button.
- Back at the Removable Devices and Media Preferences window, click the Close button.
- The next time you plug in your iPod, gtkpod will launch.

Step 3 says to click on the Browse button — but there is no Browse button in the main menu. How do you get to the window shown in step 3?
Step 7: Nothing happens when I click the Files Button. I’d like to be able to select Music on the CDRom. But the Files button opens no dialog, window, or browse option to select the CDRom or files on it.
is there any way to have cover art added to the albums?
An excellent tutorial on how to FINALLY get my iPod functioning the way that I’d like while running Ubuntu. Many kudos to ya!!
Now let’s see if I can just use this program in conjunction with Songbird ;P
Sounds like a nice tool, but when I the music is on the ipod, but it doesnt recognize it as music files. There is an error saying it cannot eject the ipod, and then writing data for ever. When I look at it on a windows itunes, it shows the files as orange, non music files. so they are there just not recognized. I have a silver ipod nano 4gb. I tried to enter the serial in the sysinfo file on the ipod but that didnt help ..
Ill try to put some music on windows first then see if it works, but until now, no way to get usable music on the ipod with linux (ubuntu).
Pl confirm if the same works for a third generation 4 GB Nano. I think a hack is required
If you select 3rd Gen Nano Video (i did silver 8gb), it works flawlessly with a 4th Gen Nano (mine is silver and 8gb too). No hacks required. Thanks!
