Yahoo beschrijft Pijpen als „interactief gegeven aggregator en manipulator die u mashup uw favoriete online gegevensbronnen“ laat. In orde, maar wat dat gemiddelde aan de rest ons doet? De Pijpen van Yahoo gebruikt gemakkelijk-aan-begrijpen visuele redacteur die toestaat u (onder andere) veelvoudig voer RSS neemt, combineert en hen filtreert, en toen output elk van dat informatie aan RSS voer.
Dit leerprogramma zal u door de stappen nemen om de inhoud van één voer RSS (Techmeme) te filtreren zodat de inhoud u reeds kunt gelezen hebben niet inbegrepen in uw voer Techmeme is.
- Om een pijp te creëren zal u een behoefte een rekening Yahoo, zodat als u geen één hebt, zou u eveneens kunnen teken omhoog nu. Zodra u binnen hebt ondertekend, bezoek http://pipes.yahoo.com. Het gebrek/de lege lay-out van Pijpen zal worden voorgesteld.
- Word begonnen door te slepen Het Voer van de haal van Bronnen lijst in het belangrijkste modulegebied. Ga volledige URL aan het voer RSS in u wilt aanpassen. Voor dit leerprogramma gebruik ik het voer van Techmeme RSS, dat http://www.techmeme.com/index.xml is
- Het voer werd bevestigen correct geladen, sleept een lijn van de kleine cirkel bij de bodem van Het Voer van de haal module aan De Output van de pijp module. Dan, sleep Debugger het venster in nadruk en klikt Verfris me verbind als niets rechtsweg verschijnt. Het Debugger venster zou met een lijst van de artikelen in het voer moeten vullen u toevoegde.
- Nu zullen wij uit artikelen van het voer filtreren geen dat wij willen omvatten. Van Verrichtingen het menu, sleept Filter module in de belangrijkste werkruimte.
- Verbind nu Het Voer van de haal module aan Filter module (u kunt weggaan De Output van de pijp module nu wordt afgekoppeld die voor).
- In Filter de module, zorgt dat ervoor Blok en Om het even welk zijn geselecteerd allebei. In Regels uitgezocht gebied, item.description. item.description de optie is gecre�ërde `' omdat de Pijpen Yahoo het „beschrijvings“ deel van het voer erkent Techmeme (zie het onderste deel hieronder van screenshot).
Voor dit voer, ga ik bepaalde URL van het voer blokkeren Techmeme, omdat ik reeds aan die plaatsenRSS voer inteken, en ik wil niet tijd het scrollen door het voer Techmeme op dingen verspillen dat ik reeds klaar heb. Zo was eerste URL die ik http://gigaom.com ben ingegaan. That will block out any Techmeme articles that originate from GigaOM.com.
- Click the + (plus) Rules button to create another rule, and repeat the steps above. Enter in the URLs to sites that you already read, and therefore don’t need to read again when they’re published in Techmeme. When you’re done, ‘drag’ the pipe from the Filter module to the Pipe Output module. Refresh the Debugger area and any articles that originate from a site that you’ve just added to your filter will be removed.
- If you’d like, you can also add a Sort module (from the Operations menu) into the mix. That way you can sort the feed articles by the date published etc. Make sure the final pipe goes from Fetch Feed to Filter to Sort and finally to Pipe Output. When you’re done, click the Save button in the upper-right part of Yahoo Pipes.
- Give your custom feed a name and click Save.
- To preview your “new” feed, click Run Pipe from the top (center) of Yahoo Pipes. Your feed will be previewed in a new browser window/tab.
- If you’re happy with the results, close the preview window/tab and click the Publish button (next to Save). Enter a description and some tags, then click Publish.
- To subscribe to your feed, go back to the Preview page and use the handy Subscribe drop down menu. You can save your feed directly to a number of the popular online feed readers, or just use the Get as RSS item to display your RSS feed URL.
- For Firefox users, the feed will be displayed in your browser. You can copy and paste the URL into any RSS reader you choose.

Excellent tutorial, it was a little daunting to use at first. It makes a lot more sense now, can use it to merge feeds together rather then subscribing to each one separately.

Nice tutorial! Tip: Feedity’s RSS generator can be used for those data sources which don?t provide a syndication format like RSS to act as a Pipe?s input.
