For the last few days I’ve been trying to figure out how to best write this post. لفي الايام القليلة الماضية كنت تحاول ان الرقم الى افضل السبل لكتابة هذا المنصب. This is what I’ve come up with, I hope it’s helpful (cause it sure is long, winded). وهذا ما قمت نخرج ، وآمل انه من المفيد (على يقين من انها قضية طويلة ، تجشا).

What I’ve done ما قمت به

One year ago I started this site. قبل عام واحد بدأت في هذا الموقع. The first month (Aug, 2006) I had 1400 visitors. الشهر الاول (أغسطس 2006) وكان لي 1400 زائر. The last month (July, 2007) I had just over 200,000 (full stats الشهر الماضي (يوليو / تموز ، 2007) كان لي ما يزيد قليلا على 200000 (احصائيات كاملة here هنا ). (. I’m in the Technorati “Top 5K”, and have been featured on a bunch of high profile sites - including انا في Technorati "من اعلى الى 5 كاف" ، وكان عرض على مجموعة من المواقع البارزة -- بما فيها Lifehacker , ، digg البحث بعمق , ، del.icio.us/popular del.icio.us / الشعبية , ، The Unofficial Apple Weblog غير الرسمية التفاح Weblog , ، 43 Folders 43 مجلدات and و Download Squad فرقة التحميل . I don’t know if that qualifies me as a successful blogger, therefore take everything I say (in terms of the suggestions I offer) with the appropriate grain(s) of salt. ولا أدري ما إذا كان لي أن يؤهل المدون ناجحه ، ولذلك أنا أقول كل شيء (من حيث الاقتراحات وأقدم) مع الحبوب المناسبه (ق) من الملح.

What I think I’ve done right واعتقد ان ما قمت به الحق

1. SEO سيو

As the كما traffic sources مصادر حركة المرور indicate, being SEO-aware has been pretty good to me. وتشير ، يجري سيو - وقد علم جيد جدا لي. - Not being a link-farm. -- لا صلة المزرعه. I don’t take part in link exchanges, which a lot of people claim help, and I don’t do blog meme’s. انا لا يشاركون في وصلة التبادل ، التي الكثير من الناس يدعون الى المساعدة ، وانا لا تفعل ميمي للبلوق. 2. Content محتوى

Yeah, I’ve done my fair share of نعم ، لقد قمت به على حصة عادلة من بلادي digg-bait writing - كتابة البحث بعمق الطعم . Top 10 lists involving pretty much anything to do with OS X, or detailed Ubuntu tutorials, are a lot more likely to make it to the front page of digg than a post on converting flac files to mp3. افضل 10 جميلة تنطوي على الكثير من القوائم لا شأن لنظام التشغيل العاشر ، او تفصيلا اوبونتو نماذج ، هي اكثر بكثير من المرجح أن تجعل الى الصفحه الاولى من البحث بعمق اكثر من وظيفة flac على تحويل الملفات الى أم بي ثري.

With that said, that post on converting flac files to mp3 is the #1 viewed article on this site. مع ذلك ، بعد ان flac على تحويل الملفات الى mp3 هو النظر الى المادة رقم 1 على هذا الموقع. I’m not enough of an expert to start one, but if you are, I’ll be happy to give you your first link انا لست خبير بما يكفي للبدء في واحد ، لكن اذا كنت ، انا سأكون سعيدا لاعطاء لك الوصله الاولى

3. Responsive استجابة

I think I’ve done a pretty good job at answering most of the comments/questions that have come my way. واعتقد انني قمت بعمل جيد جدا في الاجابه على معظم الوظائف من التعليقات / الاسءله التي تأتي في طريقي. I often compose a response and not only leave it as a reply on the blog post, I email it directly to the person who asked. إنني كثيرا ما يؤلف ، واستجابة ليس فقط ترك الامر كما رد على بلوق بعد ، انا بريد الكتروني مباشرة إلى طلب من الشخص. A couple of times people have pointed out errors in my content, or suggested a faster/better alternative solution to a problem. بضع مرات الناس واشار الى اخطاء في بلدي المحتوى ، أو اقترح اسرع / بديل أفضل حل لهذه المشكلة. When that happens, I immediately confirm that the error/suggestion is in fact correct, then update the post - crediting the person who pointed out my error etc. وعندما يحدث ذلك ، بادرت على الفور تاكيد هذا الخطأ / الاقتراح هو في الواقع صحيحة ، ثم بعد استكمال -- الاعتماد الشخص من الاشارة الى خطأ بلدي الخ

4. Thankful متشكر

Though a number of well-respected bloggers suggest that soliciting links from bigger blogs is a good idea (when it’s on topic), it never felt right to me (a bit spammy, but maybe it’s acceptable spam?). بالرغم من ان عددا من المدونين تحترم جيدا ان طلب من وصلات اكبر بلوق هو فكرة جيدة (عندما 'sعلى الموضوع) ، ورأى انه لا حق لي (spammy قليلا ، ولكن ربما انها مقبولة من البريد المزعج؟). Now, if the site in question actually asks readers to submit their own content, go nuts. الآن ، اذا كان الموقع فعلا في مسألة يسأل القراء ان يقدم المحتوى الخاصة بها ، اذهب الجوز. 5. Research بحث

I’ve learned a lot by reading other peoples blogs, and actually doing what they suggest. تعلمت الكثير عن طريق قراءة بلوق الشعوب الاخرى ، وفعلا يفعل ما يقترحونه. Pro Blogger الموالية المدون I couldn’t recommend enough. لا استطيع ان يوصي بما فيه الكفايه. Even the guest writers on his site offer great insight. حتى الضيف لصاحب الكتاب يقدم الموقع ببصيره ثاقبه. I read قرأت How not to be a successful blogger كيف لا تكون ناجحه المدون (and the fantastic quote by Kathy Sierra at the end of the post) at least once a month. (واقتبس من جانب رائع كاثي سييرا في نهاية فترة ما بعد (على الاقل مرة في الشهر. Though I don’t always agree with some of the ‘marketing’ tactics he suggests, ورغم انني لا نتفق دائما مع بعض 'التسويق' تكتيكات وهو يقترح ، Dosh Dosh Dosh dosh is also a wealth of knowledge. هو ايضا ثروه من المعرفه.

Using أستعمال Google Analytics غوغل تحليلات . I can’t stress enough how helpful it is to know things like how people got to your site, what they searched for to get there, which posts are most viewed, which source of traffic it was that drove a post up etc. That’s all pure gold . ولا استطيع ان اؤكد بما فيه الكفايه كيف ومن المفيد ان يعرف الناس اشياء مثل كيف وصلت الى موقعك ، وقاموا بتفتيش ما لتذهب الى هناك ، والتي ينظر اليها معظم وظائف ، مصدر الحركة التي كان التى حدت وظيفة وما ان يصل ' ق كل الذهب الخالص. Once I realized that people were searching for info on flac files, I went nuts with the lossless audio posts. عندما كنت أدرك أن الناس تبحث عن معلومات عن الملفات flac ، ذهبت مع الجوز بلا خسائر السمعيه وظيفة. Though none of the subsequent posts have been as successful as the original, combined they have generated pretty significant traffic. على الرغم من ان أيا من وظائف لاحقة تحقق النجاح الأصلي ، بالإضافة الى أنها قد ولدت حركة كبيرة وجميلة.

Knowing which questions to answer. معرفة الاسءله التي اجاب عليها. In my case, that’s literal - Simplehelp is a Question and Answer site. في حالتي ، وهذا الحرفي -- simplehelp هو سؤال وجواب الموقع. But it applies equally to any blog that tries to answer any kind of question. ولكنه ينطبق بالمثل على اي بلوق ان يحاول الاجابه على اي نوع من هذه المساله. Know the right ones to answer. معرفة الاجابه الصحيحه. For example - I sign up for message boards of the bands that I like. على سبيل المثال -- اشترك في لوحات الرسائل من النطاقات التي أحب. It’sa great way to find out pre-sale info for concerts, trade (legal) live music etc. But I also see the same questions asked over and over again. It'sa كبيرة لمعرفة ما قبل البيع للمعلومات والحفلات الموسيقيه والتجارة (القانونية) التي تعيش الموسيقى إلخ ولكنني انظر ايضا نفس الاسءله التي طرحت مرارا وتكرارا. One of them was “how do I convert this .flac to .mp3?”. واحد منهم هو "كيف يمكنني تحويل هذه. Flac ل. Mp3؟". So I ولذا فاننى wrote out the answer وكتب الى الاجابه , and now it’s the most frequently viewed page on my site. ، وانها الان في اكثر الاحيان ينظر الى صفحة على موقعي. Go to forums, join mailing lists, newsgroups, yahoo groups, whatever - but find out what people are asking for or find interesting, and then give it to them. الذهاب الى المنتديات ، والانضمام الى القوائم البريديه ومجموعات الأخبار ، ومجموعات ياهو ، ايا -- ولكن معرفة ما يتساءل الناس لايجاد او للاهتمام ، وبعد ذلك اعطائها لهم.

What I think I’ve done wrong واعتقد ان ما قمت به خطأ

1. Community participation المشاركة المجتمعيه

I haven’t been nearly social enough. انا لم حوالى الاجتماعية بما فيه الكفايه. Though I’ve made it as easy as possible to contact me (my لقد اجريت على الرغم من أنها أسهل ما يمكن الاتصال بي (بلادي contact form استماره الاتصال has my وقد بلادي Pownce info, email address, GTalk and AIM addresses - plus, a contact form) - I’ve seriously lacked in the networking department. معلومات ، عنوان البريد الالكتروني ، والهدف gtalk العناوين -- بالاضافة الى ذلك ، شكل من اشكال الاتصال) -- لقد قمت تفتقر بشكل خطير في الربط الشبكي للادارة.

2. Took a break واحاطت فترة انقطاع

That was really dumb. ان كان حقا البكم. Look at 10/06 in the chart below. ننظر الى 10/06 في الرسم البياني ادناه. Notice a trend over the next two months? ملاحظه اتجاه على مدى الشهرين القادمين؟ I was off to a great start, and then got lazy. كنت من البداية الى حد كبير ، وبعد ذلك حصلت كسلان. I think I should move this up to the top of the What I think I’ve done wrong section, but I’m too lazy. اعتقد انني يجب ان ينتقل هذا الامر الى الاعلى من على ما اعتقد خطأ قمت به القسم ، ولكن انا كسوله جدا.

Admittedly, there were other factors. وباعتراف الجميع ، كانت هناك عوامل اخرى. During that period of decline in traffic I started another blog (note: music blogs are a tough ‘niche’ to get into, especially when you have eclectic taste in music). وخلال تلك الفترة من انخفاض فى حركة المرور وبدأت آخر بلوق (ملاحظه : بلوق الموسيقى هي صعبة 'المتخصصه' ان ندخل ، لا سيما عندما يكون لديك انتقائي في الذوق الموسيقي). I had a brief contract with another company that included a clause that didn’t allow me to write for “competitive” sites, which Simplehelp was considered. كنت قد وجيزة عقد مع شركة اخرى شرط ان تضمن ان لا تسمح لي ان اكتب عن "المنافسة" المواقع ، والتي اعتبرت simplehelp. Anyway, the point is, it took me a good 3 months to get traffic back to where it was. على اي حال ، الموضوع ، وقد كلفني جيد 3 اشهر للحصول على حركة العودة الى ما كان عليه. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Keep at it . لا تجعل الخطأ نفسه الذي ادليت به. ابقاء عليها.

I don’t link to other content on my site very well. انا لا صلة لمحتوى آخر على موقعي جيد جدا. I’ve started to fix this, though this post is a bit over the top in terms of linking to my own content, it’s relevant this time. لقد بدأت لتصحيح هذا ، رغم ان هذه الوظيفة قليلا فوق من حيث ربط محتوى لبلدي ، انها متعلقة هذه المرة. He started his site in October of 2006 (I started mine in Aug of 2006) and he has 14,557 RSS subscribers (as of Aug 08 2007). بدأ حياته الموقع في تشرين الاول / اكتوبر من عام 2006 (ط الالغام بدأت فى اغسطس من عام 2006) وقام 14557 المشتركين في آر إس إس (اعتبارا من 08 اب / اغسطس 2007). I have 1100, on a good day. لقد 1100 ، علي حسن اليوم. What I was surprised by ما فوجئت به

2. Browser type نوع المتصفح

Simplehelp visitors are awesome! Simplehelp الزوار رهيبه! Firefox فايرفوكس was the most popular browser among Simplehelp readers, at 51.48%. وكان الاكثر شعبية بين متصفح simplehelp القراء ، على 51،48 ٪. IE was second @ 32.49%, Safari 3rd @ 10.68% and Opera 4th @ 2.72%. اي كان second@32.49 ٪ ، وسفاري واوبرا 3rd@10.68 ٪ 4th@2.72 ٪. Though this site targets “beginner to intermediate computer users” it seems as though more than 2/3’s of you are doing the right thing and not using IE. في هذا الموقع على الرغم من الاهداف "وسيطة مبتدئ لمستخدمى الكمبيوتر" يبدو كما لو أن أكثر من 2 / 3 'من انت تفعل الشيء الصحيح وعدم استخدام اي.

3. Top content أعلى محتوى

It’sa neat concept, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of different reasons someone might want to use their webcam as a security camera, and everyone has a webcam lying around unused. What I still don’t understand ما لا ازال لا افهم

Why on earth does Google send so much traffic my way, and Yahoo so little? لماذا على الارض هل ارسال صور الكثير من المرور في طريقي ، وهذا القدر الضئيل من ياهو؟ Seriously, do you know? بجدية ، هل تعرف؟ Search Yahoo for بحث ياهو لل Windows Explorer مستكشف ويندوز . The 20th result is “10 Windows Explorer alternatives” - on Lifehacker.com. والنتيجة هي العشرين "بدائل مستكشف ويندوز 10" -- على lifehacker.com. The Lifehacker result is a link to a post on my site. Lifehacker فإن النتيجة هي وصلة لمرحلة ما بعد على موقعي. The post itself doesn’t show up until #30 in the same search for “Windows Explorer”. بعد في حد ذاته لا يظهر حتى 30 # نفسها في البحث عن "مستكشف ويندوز". Is Yahoo “punishing” Simplehelp because it uses WordPress (which means it must be a blog?) and ranks blogs lower? ياهو هو "معاقبة" لانه يستخدم simplehelp WordPress (مما يعني انه يجب ان يكون بلوق؟) وانخفاض في صفوف بلوق؟ As I mentioned in the وكما ذكرت في traffic sources مصادر حركة المرور section above, Google accounted for 93.41% of my search traffic - Yahoo accounted for 2.88%. القسم اعلاه ، وصور تمثل 93،41 ٪ من حركة البحث بلدي -- ياهو تمثل 2،88 ٪.
