An introduction to Dockables

Dockables are a series of apps that provide quick access to the following features: Shut Down, Start Default Screen Saver, Restart, Empty Trash, Eject Media, Sleep, Log Out, Close Applications, Hide Applications, Mute Sound, sleep display, and ‘take screenshot’.

  1. Dockables is a breeze to install, so I won’t outline that process. Once you’re done, you’ll have a Dockables folder in your Applications. Inside the Dockables folder, you’ll find all of the applications.

  3. You can drag to your Dock (as seen below)..

  5. or drag the entire folder to your Dock. By adding the entire folder, when you right-click on it in your Dock, a menu will appear with quick access to every one of the Dockables apps.

  7. You can even add the Dockables apps to your Finder. Just right-click a blank area in the Finder Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar… Then drag the Dockables apps you think you’ll use most often to the Finder Toolbar.

  9. Be sure to check the Extras folder in the Dockables folder - it contains some excellent skins if the black icons aren’t you thing.
