This brief tutorial will guide you in determining the IP address and/or MAC address of the ethernet adapters for your Mac (both wired and AirPort) running OS X 10.4.10
- Start by clicking the Apple button in the System menu. Select System Preferences… from the drop-down list.
- Select Network from the System Preferences panel.
- From the Show: menu, select Built-in Ethernet to determine the IP and/or MAC address of your built-in ethernet adapter (skip down to step #6 if you’re looking for the IP/MAC address of your AirPort adapter).
- Your IP address will be displayed in the IP Address: field.
- Select the Ethernet tab and your MAC address will be displayed in the Ethernet ID: field.
- To determine the IP and/or MAC address of your AirPort adapter, select AirPort from the top Show: menu.
- The MAC address of your AirPort adapter will be displayed in the AirPort ID: section of the AirPort tab.
- Select the TCP/IP tab and your IP address will be displayed in the IP Address: field.

You can also use the, “About this Mac,” feature in the Apple menu. Click on more info and then on the Network category on the left side of the window. All network information will be displayed.
I use the widget located at http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/networking_security/ipwidget.html. It’s fast and simple.
