This brief tutorial will show you how to disable the annoying “balloon tips” in Windows XP.

- Click the Start button and select Run. Enter regedit in the space provided, and click OK
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
- Double click the ShowInfoTip entry and change its value from 1 to 0. Click OK and then close the registry editor.
- Now sign out of Windows and sign back in. Ta-da! No more annoying balloon tips. If you ever want to revert back, repeat the above instructions but replace 0 with 1.
