If you’ve recently updated your iPod Touch firmware to 1.1.4 and are frustrated that the Screenshot utility that used to work, no longer does, this tutorial will show you how to get the screenshot functionality back.
- First, make sure you have the software repo BigBoss’s Apps and Things - http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo added to Installer. If you need help help installing a repo, see the tutorial How to add additional sources to Installer on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
- Once BigBoss’s Apps and Things repo has been added, your sources will refresh. Click Install from the bottom button bar. Scroll down to the Utilities folder and select it. Now, scroll down to Capture
- Install Capture and return to your Springboard. Now you should see a Capture icon. Select it.
- A giant Launch Capture button will appear. Select it.
- And now a persistent window with two buttons - Snap and Exit will follow you about. When you want to take a screenshot, click Snap. When you want to exit Capture, click Exit. Note: your screenshots will not actually include this floating window - I used a different utility to take the screenshot below.
- Capture was meant to grab screenshots and put them where the iPhones pictures are stored. On the iPod Touch, they can be found in the /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE/ folder.
