If you migrate a previous environment to your MacBook Air, the AirPort icon in the menu bar will display as “not connected” - sometimes even when you are connected. It has also been reported that any kind of disconnection (closing the lid, rebooting your Mac) requires you to completely set up the wireless settings again. Keep reading for the fix to this issue..

To resolve this problem, navigate to:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

And delete the following files:

com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
com.apple.network.identification.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist

Reboot your MacBook Air.

Set up your wireless network again. This time it should not only display the proper status, but you won’t have problems reconnecting.
