Banshee is a media player that includes the following features: listen to music, watch videos, rip and burn CDs, displays cover art, tons of plugins, controllable via keyboard shortcuts, smart playlists, the ability to rate your music and manage your iPod and/or MP3 player. Banshee recently hit version 1.0, and this guide will walk you through installing it in Ubuntu linux. 1. To get started, click System -> Administration and then select Software Sources . For å komme i gang, klikker du System -> Administrasjon og velg deretter Software Sources. Enter your password if prompted. Skriv inn passordet ditt hvis du blir bedt om.

2. Select the Third-Party Software tab. Velg tredjeparts programvare kategorien.

3. Click the + Add… button. Klikk + Legg til ... knappen. If you're using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) – which is the version I'm using in these screenshots, add the line: Hvis du bruker Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) - som er den versjonen jeg bruker i disse screenshots, legger du til linjen:

4. Back at the Third-Party Software tab, click the Close button. Tilbake på tredjeparts programvare klikker du Lukk. You'll be prompted to update your software sources. Du blir bedt om å oppdatere programvaren kilder. Do so now by clicking the Reload button. Gjøre det nå ved å klikke Oppdater-knappen.

5. Once the software sources have been updated, open a Terminal (select Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal ) and enter: Når programvaren kilder har blitt oppdatert, åpne en terminal (velg Programmer -> Tilbehør -> Terminal) og skriv:

   sudo apt-get install banshee-1 sudo apt-get install banshee-1

   You'll probably be prompted to enter your password – do so. Du vil sannsynligvis bli bedt om å oppgi passordet - gjøre det.

6. Banshee will determine all of the other software that needs to be installed on your system in order for it to work, and ask you if you want to install it all. Banshee vil avgjøre alle annen programvare som må installeres på systemet for at den skal fungere, og spørre om du vil installere det hele. Hit the y key on your keyboard to install it all. Hit y-tasten på tastaturet for å installere det hele.

7. If you're “warned” about some packages not being able to be authenticated, click y again. Hvis du "advart" om noen pakker ikke kunne godkjennes, klikk Y igjen.

8. And now Banshee and all of it's dependencies will download and install themselves. Og nu Banshee, og alt det er avhengigheter vil laste ned og installere seg selv. 9. Select Applications -> Sound & Video and then Banshee Media Player . Velg Programmer -> Lyd & Video og Banshee Media Player. Banshee will launch now. Banshee vil lanseres nå.

10. From here you can start exploring Banshee and all of its options. Herfra kan du begynne å utforske Banshee og alle dens muligheter. Add some media and give it a listen/watch. Legg til noen medier og gi den en lytt / watch.

11. If you have a Last.FM account, sign in to it through Banshee and you can access all kinds of goodies. Dersom du har en Last.FM konto, logger du det gjennom Banshee og du får tilgang til all slags godsaker.

12. Hover your cursor over the Banshee icon in your menu and a pop-up will appear showing the current track playing, album art, and a slider to Fast Forward or Rewind the track. Hold markøren over Banshee ikonet i menyen og et popup-vindu kommer frem med gjeldende sporspilling, albumbilder og en glidebryter for å spole fremover eller bakover på banen.
