Eerste openbare bèta van 360desktop vandaag ter beschikking gesteld. Ik downloadde het, speelde rond, en desinstalleerde het. Keurig concept, niet zelfs dicht bij klaar voor dagelijks gebruik.
Ja, is het bèta. Dat is waarom ik het één of andere verslapping snijd. In waarheid? Het zou alpha- moeten worden geëtiketteerd�. PC van het Uitzicht ik het testte op is een P4 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 300GB 7200RPM HD en een NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500. 360desktop liep zo langzaam het was pijnlijk te gebruiken. Het bracht het volledige systeem aan een stilstand. Algemeen bekend, is mijn videokaart zeker niet hoogste van de lijn, maar het stelt volkomen regelmatig Aero in werking.
Ik zal een seconde steunen, aangezien u „o.k. zou kunnen vragen, maar wat 360desktop?“ is. Van hun Faq- sectie en homepage:
360desktop is een vrije en veilige softwaredownload, die uw standaardWindows Desktop in een 360 graad panoramische werkruimte omzet, die u vaak meer Desktopruimte geven. 360desktop is de convergentie van het Web en de Desktop. Als u „krijgt“ wat zij door Web 2.0 betekenen, kunt u aan ons als Desktop 2.0 denken.
Als u het een schot geeft, op alle manier te laten gelieve me weten hoe het op uw PC (verlaat een commentaar) loopt. Op dit ogenblik is het beschikbaar voor zowel XP als Uitzicht, niettemin niet de versie met 64 bits van Uitzicht.
Het verpletterde, tweemaal, in de 20 minuten ik het uit testte. Het verlaagde explorer.exe met het eens. Het plaatste willekeurig widgets op mijn Desktop, niettemin op geen punt had ik geïnstalleerde. Update: dank aan Paul (zie commentaren) voor het verklaren dat widgets als deel van het (momenteel) standaardthema, „vierde van Juli“) werden omvat. Ik wil niet u van het proberen van het (hoewel mijn installatie van Uitzicht 2 oude dagen is, zodat is het eerder onwaarschijnlijk dat het „mijn systeem“ schuldig, in termen van het strijdig zijn software of OS fouten was) ontmoedigen. Maar voor het geval dat u beslist een versie of twee te wachten, zijn hier over sommige screenshots aan getijde u.
Een versie of drie van nu hoop ik om mijn woorden te eten. Dit product is een groot idee, in theorie. De huidige uitvoering ontbreekt.

I just installed and tried out the beta as well, running vista ultimate on laptop with 2 gig ram and 8600 256mb card, runs decently fast, but as you said, it is still beta and a lot needs to be done.
I was going through their video demo on their website and I noticed the link http://www.360desktop.com/gallery on the video so I typed it in… go and have a look and that will give you an idea about how much they still need to get done to get it to the masses, there are a few cool backgrounds on their site though.
Cant wait for them to tweak it further.

The couple of widgets that you see are actually 4th July content, embedded as part of the 4th July 360. You can add your own widgets via button on QuickNav. we’ll have a few new backgrounds on the site later today, with new content every day or so, ahead of the release of the authoring and gallery, where you cna create and share your own 360’s. Cheers Evan 360desktop
This looks great. I’m running Vista 64 bit. What’s the plan? Are you making a 64 bit version?
Or, will it work on 64 bit as is?

Won’t it uninstall through Control Panel?
If not try downloading Revo Uninstaller. It’s freeware and will uninstall programmes and then scan and remove any leftovers in Registry etc.
Any sign of a 64 bit beta yet Evan?

Why is 64 bit is still not available? A month and a half after Mr Evans Jones said is “should be next week”.
