If you can complete the entire puzzle (it took me 31 minutes, you can do it faster I’m not very good at these games) you get access to a cool but short video montage of Pearl Jams history.

How to encrypt your Linux backups

by Sukrit Dhandhania on February 19, 2009

Linux Security

We covered the creation and extraction of compressed archives such as tar on a Linux machine. A lot of Linux users use these compression formats for backups purposes. Although this compresses pretty well it does not secure the backup. To do that you need to add a password, or to encrypt it. Let’s look at a simple form of securing your backup when you create an archive. [click to continue...]

Create TinyURL links easily with your browser

by Sukrit Dhandhania on February 4, 2009

Firefox Internet Explorer

TinyURL is probably one of the most popular services out there to shorten a web link. For those out there that might not be familiar with this service, TinyURL is a free web service where you can enter a long web link and it will create a shortcut to that url and return a much smaller url that is easier to share. How to quickly share files with your friends

by Skyler Huse on January 30, 2009

One of the problems I have with file sharing is that more often than not, it’s rather slow. When I say file sharing, I mean between one person and a friend, not bittorrent, eDonkey or Gnutella. For this you usually have to go through an Instant Messenger’s file sharing program or through sites like Rapidshare or Megaupload. The problem with IM file sharing is that it’s usually slow and if it gets interrupted, often you’ll have to start all over. The problem with sites like Rapidshare is that they don’t stream, which can be frustrating. Yes, there are sites like Streamfile that try to fix that last problem, but it can still mess up and you have to start all over! [click to continue...]
