How to quickly share files with your friends
One of the problems I have with file sharing is that more often than not, it’s rather slow. When I say file sharing, I mean between one person and a friend, not bittorrent, eDonkey or Gnutella. For this you usually have to go through an Instant Messenger’s file sharing program or through sites like Rapidshare or Megaupload. The problem with IM file sharing is that it’s usually slow and if it gets interrupted, often you’ll have to start all over. The problem with sites like Rapidshare is that they don’t stream, which can be frustrating. Yes, there are sites like Streamfile that try to fix that last problem, but it can still mess up and you have to start all over! [click to continue...]

I also tried to stay away from the well known comics (like Questionable Content). They are listed in alphabetical order, not by how much I like them :) [click to continue...]

How to get sound working in Windows 7 running via Boot Camp
The solution to audio not working in Windows 7 running in Boot Camp is to download and install the latest (2.14) Realtek Drivers. Select the High Definition Audio Codecs (Software) link, accept the license agreement, and after the download has completed run the executable. You may need to reboot your Mac (back into Windows 7) for audio to work.
Thanks BrianSF!

Some useful Linux bash tricks
I use the Linux command line extensively, both on my local machine or when I’m connected to a remote server. There are some keyboard shortcuts that I want to share with you which have made my life on BASH a lot easier. I have not come across too many books that have documented these shortcuts and I think they are quite important to improve your productivity while on the command line. [click to continue...]

How to monitor your Linux machine with netstat
Netstat is an extremely useful Linux command line tool that allows you to check which service is connecting to a port on your machine. It is very useful to analyze what’s going on on your machine when you are facing or trying to to prevent an attack on it. You can find information such as how many connection are being made on a port, which IP addresses these connections originate from, and much more. Netstat ships with most distributions of Linux so it should already be installed on yours. [click to continue...]
