How to speed up your Windows PC with SpeedUpMyPC 2009

Windows

SpeedUpMyPC 2009 is a product from the same folks who created RegistryBooster 2009, and is another Windows application that Simple Help strongly endorses. Keep reading for a full tutorial on configuring and using SpeedUpMyPC 2009.

Similar to RegistryBooster 2009, SpeedUpMyPC 2009 is not free software. There are free alternatives to SpeedUpMyPC 2009, but I’ve found none to be as safe, reliable and feature rich.

  1. To get started, download and install SpeedUpMyPC 2009. The installation is very straight forward – you’ll mostly click “Next” a bunch of times. SpeedUpMyPC 2009 does require the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed on your PC, but will install it for you if it’s not already there.

  3. If you did need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, you’ll need to reboot before the installation can complete.

  4. click to enlarge

  5. Once your PC restarts, depending on your PC/security settings, you may get a prompt asking if you want to run SpeedUpMyPC 2009 (the screenshot below is from XP, it will look slightly different if you’re using Vista). Click Run.
  6. The installation will now complete. Make sure the Run Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009 box is checked, and click the Finish button.

  7. click to enlarge

  8. If there’s an update available, you’ll be prompted to download it. Click Yes.
  9. In the bottom right corner of the main SpeedUpMyPC 2009 window, click the Install updates button. You’ll go through a similar installation as outlined in the previous few steps, but it will be faster.

  10. click to enlarge

  11. Once the “second” installation has completed (assuming there was an update to install) – SpeedUpMyPC 2009 will begin to scan your system for possible optimizations.

  12. click to enlarge

  13. It’s at this point where you can decide if you wish to purchase SpeedUpMyPC 2009 based on the results of the scan. As you can see in the screenshot below, SpeedUpMyPC 2009 found over 1500 files and optimization changes to make. Click the Register now button in the bottom left corner of the main window.

  14. click to enlarge

  15. If you already have an activation key, enter it in the space provided and click the Activate now button. Otherwise, click the Purchase Online button.

  16. click to enlarge

  17. With SpeedUpMyPC 2009 now activated, click the Optimize all button in the bottom right corner.

  18. click to enlarge

  19. Depending on the programs you have open, you may be prompted to close some of them. Save anything you may be working on, and then click the Close all and continue button.

  20. click to enlarge

  21. And SpeedUpMyPC 2009 will now optimize your system.

  22. click to enlarge

  23. Select the Overview tab at the top of the window, and in the left pane you’ll notice that your system performance is now optimized.

  24. click to enlarge

  25. Now we’ll take a look at some of the settings. Click the System Scan tab. In the AUTOMATIC OPTIMIZATION AND CLEANUP section, you may want to place a check in the Perform automatic optimization and cleanup after scan so that everything happens as soon as you open SpeedUpMyPC 2009.

  26. click to enlarge

  27. Now select the Cleanup tab. From here you can select which drives you want SpeedUpMyPC 2009 to scan.

  28. click to enlarge

  29. Click the Files to find tab. This is a list of the files that SpeedUpMyPC 2009 will look for and clean up when it finds them.

  30. click to enlarge

  31. Select the Optimization tab from the top list, and then select the Applications tab from the left list. By default, the Startup manager section will be displayed. If you’re curious about any of the programs that are set to launch at Windows startup, click the “i” button next to that program name.

  32. click to enlarge

  33. Your web browser will open and take you to a page explaining what that process or program is.

  34. click to enlarge

  35. Now select the Recovery center tab from the left pane of the Optimization screen. From here you can undo or ‘recover’ any of the changes taht SpeedUpMyPC 2009 makes, should you choose to do so. This is another feature that makes me recommend this software – though generally unnecessary, the ability to revert back to previous settings is a fantastic safety feature.

  36. click to enlarge

  37. Finally, select the Settings tab from the top. From here you can customize exactly how you want SpeedUpMyPC 2009 to behave. The options are very straight forward, and one that I would suggest disabling is Launch SpeedUpMyPC 2009 when Windows starts. Though SpeedUpMyPC 2009 is a great tool, it doesn’t need to be run every day. Once a week or so will suffice.

  39. That’s it! Feel free to explore the other SpeedUpMyPC 2009 options, and enjoy having a faster PC :)

These programs don’t support 64bit Vista, which seems very odd at this point.

I’m sceptical of so-called “speed up” apps. What is your basis for claiming SpeedUpMyPC 2009 actually speeds up PC’s? Have you done any empirical before and after tests? What specifically speeded up? Boot times? Loading web pages? How about some numbers?
