Qimo is een Desktop werkend systeem dat voor jonge geitjes wordt ontworpen. Gebaseerd op de open bron komt de Desktop van Ubuntu Linux, Qimo pre-geïnstalleerd met onderwijsspelen voor kinderen op de leeftijd van 3 en omhoog.De interface van Qimo is ontworpen intuïtief en makkelijk te gebruiken om te zijn, verstrekkend grote pictogrammen voor alle geïnstalleerdeo spelen, zodat zelfs de jongste gebruikers geen probleem selecterend de activiteit hebben die zij hebben gewild.
Qimo vergt een minimum van 256MB van geheugen van CD in werking te stellen, of 192MB om te installeren. Minstens 6 GB van harde aandrijvingsruimte worden geadviseerd, en een 400MHz of een snellere cpu. Wegens zijn zeer minimale systeemvereisten, is het fantastische OS om op die oude zitting van PC in uw kast te installeren en uw childsruimte aan te brengen.
Dit leerprogramma zal u door het installeren van Qimo, begeleiden en zal een kort overzicht van apps die inbegrepen zijn, evenals instructies bij het verwijderen van enkele degenen geven u niet uw kind kunt willen toegang hebben tot.
- Om begonnen te worden, download Het dossier van Qimo .iso. U zult dit .iso aan CD of een DVD (het past op CD) moeten branden. Zodra voltooid, neem CD/DVD in uw cd/dvd-ROM en laars op omhoog uw computer. Zorg ervoor dat uw PC aan laars van de CD/DVD aandrijving eerste wordt geplaatst (vóór de harde schijf of andere aandrijving).
U zal met het aanvankelijke Qimo laarsscherm worden voorgesteld. Omdat Qimo een LiveCD is, kunt u het proberen alvorens u het installeert, als u zou houden van. Selecteer Probeer Qimo zonder enige verandering in uw computer als u het een looppas zou willen geven alvorens u het eigenlijk installeert. Dit leerprogramma zal u eigenlijk door het volledige installatieproces lopen - om te doen klik dit de benedenpijl op uw toetsenbord aan hoogtepunt Installeer Qimo en dan geraakt ga binnen.
- De installateur Qimo zal beginnen te laden.
- De eerste stap van de installatie is uw taal te selecteren. Doe dit van de lijst aan de linkerkant van het scherm, en klik dan Door:sturen knoop.
- Selecteer het dichtst nu de stad aan u (in uw tijdstreek) van het drop-down menu, en klik Door:sturen knoop.
- Selecteer uw toetsenbordlay-out van de lijst in de linkerkolom, en opnieuw, klik Door:sturen knoop.
- Nu zult u hoeveel schijfruimte moeten beslissen aan Qimo toe te wijzen. Because I’m going to dedicate the entire hard drive to Qimo, I selected Guided - use entire disk. If you don’t want to use your entire hard drive for Qimo, select Manual and use the ’slider’ to determine how much space Qimo gets vs. any other operating system(s) you may already have installed. When you’re ready, click the Forward button.
- Now you’ll need to create a profile. Enter your name, a user name, password and name for the computer. NOTE: do NOT place a check in the box labeled Log in automatically. Qimo will automatically create a username named “qimo” which is the user that your child will log in with. This username automatically signs in each time Qimo starts - your child doesn’t need to enter a user or pass. The account created on this screen is for you to use to administrate the PC. Click the Forward button to continue.
- That’s it - you’re ready to install Qimo. Click the Install button after you’ve reviewed all the info on the summary page.
- Qimo will now install. This may be a good time to go grab a cup of coffee.
- Once the installation has completed, click the Restart now button.
- Qimo will now start up.
- Because Qimo automatically logs in with the ‘qimo’ account (the account your child should/will use) you’ll be taken directly to the desktop.
- The “Dock” at the bottom of the screen includes links to the apps your child will use most.
- The first app in the Toolbar is Text Editor which is exactly as you’d guess - a text editor. Your kids can create brief notes or use it to write out homework.
- The second app in the Toolbar is GCompris, a collection of general educational games that are appropriate for children ages 2 and up.
- Childsplay is a collection of educational games.
- TuxPaint is a very simple Paint program that allows your children to create colorful pictures, posters, cards and letters.
- Tux Math teaches mathematics through a series of fun games.
- Certain programs are off-limits to the ‘qimo’ user (your childs account). When/if they try to run those programs, they’ll get an error message similar to the one displayed in the screenshot below.
- However, some programs are not off limits. For example, Firefox can be used by the qimo user. The easiest solution to avoid having your child use programs like Firefox, Transmission (bittorrent), IRC or Instant Messaging, is to keep the PC offline entirely.
- To quickly update the system, open a Terminal and enter the command su your-user-name (where your-user-name was the one you selected back in step #7). Enter your password when prompted, and then issue the command sudo apt-get update
- Now enter the command sudo apt-get -f install
- If you’d like to remove programs from qimo entirely, enter the command sudo /usr/sbin/synaptic to launch the Synaptic Package Manager.
- From here you can easily search for and remove any programs that you simply don’t want on the PC.
- You can also administer Qimo by logging out of your current session, and logging back in with the username and password you created in step #7.
