Qimo är ett skrivbords- fungerande system som planläggs för ungar. Baserat på den öppna källan Ubuntu skrivbords- Linux, Qimo kommer förhandsinstallerat med bildas lekar för barn som åldras 3 och, up.Qimos har kontakt har planlagts att vara intuitiv och lätt att använda och att ge stora symboler för all installerad idrott, så att även de mest unga användarena har inget att besvära att välja aktiviteten som de önskar.
Qimo behöver en minimi av 256MB av minnet att köra från CDEN eller 192MB till installation. Åtminstone rekommenderas 6 GB av hårt drevutrymme, och en 400MHz eller en snabbare CPU. På grund av dess mycket minsta systemkrav är det ett fantastiskt OS som ska installeras på det gammala PCsammanträde i din garderob, och att sätta i dina childs hyra rum.
Denna ska tutorial vägleder dig till och med installation av Qimo och ger en kort överblick av appsna, som är inklusive, såväl som anvisningar på att ta bort några av de du inte kan önska att ditt barn ska ta fram.
- Nedladda för att få startat Qimo .iso sparar. Du ska behov att bränna denna .iso till en CD eller en DVD (den gör passformen på en CD). Sätt in CDEN/DVD in i din CD/DVD-ROM och starta upp din dator, när avslutat. Se till att din PC är fastställd att starta från CD-/DVDdrevet först (för hårddisken eller annan drev).
Du ska framläggas med den initiala Qimo kängan avskärmer. Därför att Qimo är en LiveCD, kan du försök det, för du installerar det, om du skulle något liknande. Valt Försök Qimo utan någon ändring till din dator om du skulle något liknande för att ge det en körning, för du installerar faktiskt den. Denna ska tutorial går faktiskt dig till och med den processaa färdiga installationen - för att göra så klicka besegrapilen på ditt skrivar för att markera Installera Qimo och därefter skriver in hiten.
- Den ska Qimo montören börjar att ladda.
- Första steg av installationen är att välja ditt språk. Gör så från lista på vänster sida av avskärma och klicka därefter Framåt knäppas.
- Välj nu staden som är mest nära till dig (i din tid zonplanera), från den drop-down menyn och klicka Framåt knäppas.
- Välj ditt skrivar orienteringen från lista i den lämnade kolonnen, och igen, klicka Framåt knäppas.
- Nu ska du behov att avgöra, hur mycket diskutrymme som ska tilldelas till Qimo. Because I’m going to dedicate the entire hard drive to Qimo, I selected Guided - use entire disk. If you don’t want to use your entire hard drive for Qimo, select Manual and use the ’slider’ to determine how much space Qimo gets vs. any other operating system(s) you may already have installed. When you’re ready, click the Forward button.
- Now you’ll need to create a profile. Enter your name, a user name, password and name for the computer. NOTE: do NOT place a check in the box labeled Log in automatically. Qimo will automatically create a username named “qimo” which is the user that your child will log in with. This username automatically signs in each time Qimo starts - your child doesn’t need to enter a user or pass. The account created on this screen is for you to use to administrate the PC. Click the Forward button to continue.
- That’s it - you’re ready to install Qimo. Click the Install button after you’ve reviewed all the info on the summary page.
- Qimo will now install. This may be a good time to go grab a cup of coffee.
- Once the installation has completed, click the Restart now button.
- Qimo will now start up.
- Because Qimo automatically logs in with the ‘qimo’ account (the account your child should/will use) you’ll be taken directly to the desktop.
- The “Dock” at the bottom of the screen includes links to the apps your child will use most.
- The first app in the Toolbar is Text Editor which is exactly as you’d guess - a text editor. Your kids can create brief notes or use it to write out homework.
- The second app in the Toolbar is GCompris, a collection of general educational games that are appropriate for children ages 2 and up.
- Childsplay is a collection of educational games.
- TuxPaint is a very simple Paint program that allows your children to create colorful pictures, posters, cards and letters.
- Tux Math teaches mathematics through a series of fun games.
- Certain programs are off-limits to the ‘qimo’ user (your childs account). When/if they try to run those programs, they’ll get an error message similar to the one displayed in the screenshot below.
- However, some programs are not off limits. For example, Firefox can be used by the qimo user. The easiest solution to avoid having your child use programs like Firefox, Transmission (bittorrent), IRC or Instant Messaging, is to keep the PC offline entirely.
- To quickly update the system, open a Terminal and enter the command su your-user-name (where your-user-name was the one you selected back in step #7). Enter your password when prompted, and then issue the command sudo apt-get update
- Now enter the command sudo apt-get -f install
- If you’d like to remove programs from qimo entirely, enter the command sudo /usr/sbin/synaptic to launch the Synaptic Package Manager.
- From here you can easily search for and remove any programs that you simply don’t want on the PC.
- You can also administer Qimo by logging out of your current session, and logging back in with the username and password you created in step #7.
