How to Turn Off the Action Center in Windows 10

by Ross McKillop on March 8, 2016

This very quick and easy to follow guide will show you how to disable the “Action Center” that comes with Windows 10.

Plus, it’s very easy to turn on again should you decide you want it back.

Here’s the Action Center in action. By disabling it you’ll still get the little ‘notifications’ so you won’t miss out on anything – but the Action Center itself will be gone.

Let’s turn it off.

  1. Start out by “right-clicking” the time/date in your System Tray. From the pop-up menu, select Properties
  2. the Windows 10 System Tray menu

  3. You’ll be taken to the Notifications & actions section of your Settings. In the section titled Quick actions, select the Turn system icons on or off item.
  4. The Notifications and Actions section of the Windows 10 Settings

  5. In the TURN SYSTEM ICONS ON OR OFF section, locate the entry named Action Center. Toggle the On/Off switch to Off

  7. The Windows 10 Action Center is now gone :) If you ever decide you’d like to turn it back on, repeat the same steps again, this time toggle the Action Center switch back to On.
