How to delete an individual site from the address bar’s list of previously viewed sites in Firefox

by Ross McKillop on June 29, 2007

Firefox

This (very) brief tutorial will show you how to delete sites from your Firefox address bar, without having to clear them all. Though this may be common knowledge to many of you, I did a quick poll of my semi-technical friends and more than half of them didn’t even know you could do it.

Firefox for Linux: use the drop-down button in your address bar, scroll to the site you wish to delete, and hit the Delete key on your keyboard (not the Backspace key).

Firefox for OS X: use the drop-down button in your address bar, scroll to the site you wish to delete, hold down the shift key and hit delete.

Firefox for Windows: use the drop-down button in your address bar, scroll to the site you wish to delete, and hit the Delete key on your keyboard (not the Backspace key).

Note: this will only remove it from the address bar drop-down list - not your browsing history.

How to use Adobe Acrobat-style grab and drag scrolling in Firefox

by Ross McKillop on June 26, 2007

Firefox

Grab and Drag enables Adobe Acrobat-style grab and drag scrolling in Firefox, Thunderbird, and Flock. Though it’s not a plugin that anyone with a scroll-wheel mouse would find useful (I don’t think), it is very helpful if you use a one button mouse (iBook/PowerBook/MacBook/MacBook Pro users), a stylus/pen or touchscreen/tablet PC.

Firefox

If your computer starts to slow down after you’ve been using Firefox for a while, you may be able to regain some of your system resources by limiting the amount of memory that Firefox is “allowed” to use for caching, thus improving your system performance. It should be noted that if you have 1GB or more of RAM, you probably don’t need to follow these steps.. [click to continue...]
