Top 5 OS X Dashboard Widgets for Bloggers

by Ross McKillop on May 7, 2007

Blogging Mac Web Design & Dev

As a part of the ProBlogger Top 5 Group Writing Project, here are my 5 favorite ‘blogging related’ OS X Dashboard widgets.

  1. WordPress Dash - download
  2. I’m not sure I’d use WordPress Dash to compose full posts, but it makes for a fantastically quick way to jot down post ideas and save them as drafts for later. With that said, there’s absolutely no reason you can’t use it to compose full posts - you can even select the categories for your post right from within the widget.

  3. Dashalytics - download
  4. If you like to keep a close eye on how your blogs are performing, and you use Google Analytics to track your site metrics, Dashalytics is for you. At a quick glance you can see how many visitors and/or pageviews you’ve had over the last 24 hours, 7 days, and 12 months.

  5. RevenuSense - download
  6. Do you find yourself constantly checking to see how much money you’ve made with AdSense? Rather than visit the AdSense page and sign in, just bring up your Dashboard and let RevenuSense do it for you.

  7. iCliplite - download
  8. Winner of a 2006 Apple Design Award, the iClip lite widget is nothing short of brilliant. Save your valuable time by adding commonly used text-snipits, images, web site addresses and even applications to iClip lite. Then when you need them, they’re just a click away.

  9. Google PageRank - download
  10. Want to know the PageRank to any given site, but don’t want to install the Google Toolbar? Install the Google PageRank widget, enter the address into the space provided, and hit enter. It’s that simple.

Those look like nice widgets, though I’m a PC user. Looking forward to buying my first Mac soon.

good luck in the group blogger project, you can also check out my entry on my blog.

Thanks for the widgets. I am a new Mac user and still learning my way around. These will be very useful.

    3 Frank Cantu 05.08.07 at 3:38 am

Great list! It’s nice to see another Mac list — but how about a widget for uploading some pictures?

    4 Ross McKillop 05.08.07 at 11:28 am

    Frank -

There are a couple of other ‘blogging related’ widgets that I quite like - Screenshot Plus (is the widget I used to take screenshots of the above widgets). Photo Drop is great for quickly re-sizing and trimming images, and Flick’it is outstanding for uploading to Flickr. But I had to pick just 5, cause of the group writing project rules :) Maybe I’ll do a “my other 5 favorite blogging widgets” post as a follow-up.

Great list! It’s good to see a Mac perspective on blogging.

Awesome widgets. I had no idea these even existed. I’ll have to get them on my macbook. I found your site from the top 5 list. Great list!

Hi, I’m the blogjunkie from myMacBUZZ. I love that PageRank widget! Do you know any that can check several pages at a time?

Check out my entry for Darren’s group writing project too.

I didn’t even know such things existed! I was actually thinking of learning how to program in tht silly Cocoa language just to create a WordPress posting widget. Good thing I googled for it first :)

9 Real Salt Lake christen Rio Tinto Stadium 10.04.08 at 7:07 pm

[...]For the players and coaches, this is just latest welcome development in the club’s growth since its inaugural season in Utah. A new stadium opening in the midst of a breakout year in MLS play has left a definite feel that everything is coming together at the right time.[...]
