This step by step guide will show you how to compose a tweet and then schedule it to be sent at a later time or date.

Overview

The steps to schedule a tweet are slightly different depending on the device you’re using. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered regardless as to whether you’re using a mobile device (iPhone, Android, iPad etc) or a desktop/laptop (Windows, macOS, Linux etc).

Schedule a Tweet Using a Mobile Device (Android/iOS)

Long story short: use the “mobile web” version of Twitter. That means instead of using the Twitter app to schedule a tweet, you use Twitter via the web browser on your phone or tablet. Here’s how –

Open the web browser on your phone or tablet (Safari, Chrome etc) and open the page https://mobile.twitter.com. Sign in with your Twitter username and password. Once you’ve signed in, tap the “Compose Tweet” button.

Compose your tweet the same way you always do – attach a photo or video if you’d like – everything you’d normally do. Instead of tapping the Tweet button, locate and tap the Schedule icon/button which is found towards the bottom of the ‘compose tweet’ box (see screenshot below).

Now choose the date and time that you’d like the tweet to be automatically sent. When you’ve made your selections, tap the Confirm button.

The Tweet button will now switch to say Schedule instead. Tap it.

You’ll see a little confirmation notification letting you know the tweet has been scheduled. You can now close out of the browser if you’d like – you don’t need to keep it open for the tweet to be sent later.

If you ever want to see a list of your scheduled tweets, go back to the compose window and look for the link titled Unsent Tweets (Note: you will not have an Unsent Tweets link if you don’t have any currently scheduled tweets or tweets that have been saved as drafts).

Select the Scheduled tab and from here you’ll find a list of all the tweets you currently have scheduled to send at a later time/date.

That’s it!

Schedule a Tweet Using a Desktop or Laptop (Windows/macOS/Linux)

Head over to twitter.com in your favorite web browser and sign in. Click the large Tweet button.

Compose your tweet the same way you always do – attach a photo or video if you’d like – everything you’d normally do. Instead of tapping the Tweet button, locate and tap the Schedule icon/button which is found towards the bottom of the ‘compose tweet’ box (see screenshot below).

Enter in the required info in the Date and Time sections and then click the Confirm button.

Finally, click the Schedule button.

That’s it! Your tweet will be sent at the time you specified back in step #3 and you don’t need to keep Twitter or your browser open, it’s all taken care of. If you ever want to review your scheduled tweets, compose a new tweet and look for the Unsent Tweets link – which will only appear if you have scheduled or tweet drafts saved.

Select the Scheduled tab to see your scheduled tweets.

That’s it!

This guide will show you how to use a browser add-on to completely change the way you experience Facebook by allowing you to remove Sponsored ads, App & Game requests, Stories & much more.

F.B. Purity is a browser add-on that lets you customize your Facebook wall, profile and much more. It’s been around for ages and is considered trustworthy and safe to use. It’s also very frequently updated, so if a featured stops working because Facebook changed something, the F.B. Purity team update the add-on quickly to resolve any problems.

Best of all, it’s available for every major desktop browser, including: Chrome (and Chrome-based browsers like Vivaldi), Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Opera. Click on the link that represents your browser to install it, or visit the F.B. Purity installation page and install it from there. In most cases it’s as easy as clicking a button and following a couple of steps. Safari is a bit more involved, but really you just need to install another add-on first.

Proceed with step #1 once you have F.B. Purity installed.

Head over to facebook.com. The first time you visit Facebook after installing F.B. Purity you’ll be greeted with a welcome message. Click the “X” in the upper-right corner to close the message.

One thing you’ll probably notice right away is the new “FBP” button in the main toolbar. This is your gateway to the F.B. Purity settings – give it a click.

There are a lot of settings and options. Don’t let this intimidate you, it’s all quite easy to understand and configure. As you can see, FBP blocks “Sponsored” posts (ads) and Game/App posts by default.

Close out of the FBP settings and take a look at your Facebook ‘wall’. You’ll see a new line right above the posts on your wall titled F.B. Purity hid:. This is where FBP lets you know how many items it blocked (hid) and lets you review them. As illustrated in the screenshot below, FBP blocked 2 app related posts, and 2 ‘other’ posts. If your F.B. Purity hid: line doesn’t have any items in it, scroll down your wall – it will update as your wall expands. Once FBP has found something to hide, click the Show link.

FBP will show you exactly what it blocked. It will also include a small “WL” link in the upper-right corner of the posts it blocks. WL stands for “whitelist” – so if there is an app or game you do want to see on your wall, you can add it to your whitelist and FBP will no longer block/hide it.

Another large frequent ‘waste of space’ on your Facebook wall is the People You May Know section.

Go back to the F.B. Purity Settings by clicking the large FBP button in your toolbar. In the More Options section, place a check next to People You May Know

Now click the Save and Close button. This ensures the new setting is saved, and refreshes your Facebook page with those new settings applied. In this case, the People You May Know section will stop appearing on your wall.

The only way to really figure out everything F.B. Purity can do is to go through the options one by one. Start with the Newsfeed Filters section.

A big list of all the various things that FBP can hide from your wall.

The “catch all” way to hide content using FBP is the Text filter. This lets you block content that matches a keyword or phrase no matter who or what posts it. You can use it to filter out things like sports, politicians, celebrities or products.

Keep reviewing the various options and settings and eventually you’ll have a version of Facebook that completely suits your needs.

If you’ve found yourself with a .webm file and are trying to play it, this short guide is just what you’re looking for.

Short background: The .webm format is for media (audio/video). WEBM is an open format, and designed for the web. It’s a wrapper that contains audio and video – much like .MKV files. Since it’s an open format, it’s been pretty widely accepted and used on sites like YouTube.

At one point in time not all versions of Windows and macOS could play .webm files by default but now as long as you’re using a relatively modern version of Windows (Windows 7 and up) or macOS you’ll have no problems.

To open a .webm, you can use pretty much any modern web browser, including the current versions of Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

If you have the file on your computer, you can also use media players such as VLC or Media Player Classic – just open your player, select File -> Open and choose the .webm.

If you’re able to view the video below, you’re already set – it’s a .webm file! If the file doesn’t open, update your browser to the latest version and try again.

This brief tutorial will take you step by step through the process of clearing the list of sites you’ve visited on your iPhone, without deleting any of your other browser settings.

By clearing the history of the sites you’ve visited via the iOS Settings, it will also insist that you delete other data – cookies, stored passwords etc. The method outlined below shows you how to clear the list of sites you’ve visited without deleting any other data.

Start out by opening Safari. Tap the “Bookmarks” icon from the bottom menu (the one that looks like an open book).

If the Bookmark tab isn’t already selected, tap it from the top menu bar. Then scroll down and tap History from the list.

Now tap Clear from the bottom menu on the History page.

At this point you’ll be prompted to delete your browsing history from either the last hour, day, two days or all of your visited sites. Tap Clear All History.

Now the list of sites that you’ve visited will be empty, but data like your saved passwords etc, will be ready for you when you revisit the site. That’s it!

This guide will show you how to use your keyboard to control YouTube videos – fast forward and rewind, play/pause, volume and more!

These keyboard tricks to control YouTube should work in most web browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge. They work whether you’re using YouTube within a browser window or playing in full screen.

To fast forward through a video you have a couple of choices.

Instead of waiting to get to a specific part, you can use the number keys (not on the number pad) and skip ahead in intervals of 10%. For example, say you want to jump ahead to the half way point of the video – just hit the number 5 on your keyboard (representing 50%) – and it will skip ahead to the middle. If you’ve played the video all the way through, this trick still works. You can go back to the beginning by typing 0.

You can also skip forwards or backwards in 5 seconds intervals by using the left and right arrow keys.

Control the volume by using the up arrow key to turn up the volume and the down arrow key to lower the volume. Each time you tap the up or down arrow key the volume will increase or decrease in 5% increments, and the volume level is displayed on-screen.

Use the spacebar to pause and unpause a video while it’s playing.

This brief tutorial will show you how to display the Bookmarks Bar (now called Favorites Bar) in Safari for the iPad, and how to add bookmarks to it.

Apple seems stuck trying to decide if they’re called bookmarks or favorites, but they’re the same thing.

Start out by selecting Settings from the iPad home screen.

Select Safari from the Settings column

On the right side of the Settings screen, look for the GENERAL section and then toggle the Show Favorites Bar switch to ON

Back in Safari you should now see the Favorites Bar directly below the Address Bar.

The order of your bookmarks depends on the order your favorites have been added – but they’re easy to switch around. Bring up the Favorites menu by tapping the Show/Hide Sidebar button (see screenshot below) and then tap the Edit link at the bottom of your Favorites list.

Tap the button with “3 dashes” (see screenshot below) next to the item you want to move on the Favorites Bar and drag that item up or down your list. The first/top item in your Favorites list will be the first item in your Favorites Bar. The number of favorites that will “fit” on the Favorites Bar in Safari will depend on your iPad screen size and the length of each bookmarks name.

In this brief tutorial I’ll show you how to clear the browsing history, the Safari cache and cookie files in Safari for the iPad.

We’ve got the steps for both “types” of clearing your browsing data – you can delete all of the stored website data (browsing history, cache and cookies) at once, or you can delete that website data on a site by site basis.

Clear All Website Data from Safari (iPad)

Select Settings from your iPad home screen.

Choose Safari from the Settings column on the left.

Look for the section named PRIVACY & SECURITY and then tap the button inside of it titled Clear History and Website Data

Confirm you want to delete your browsing history and related files by tapping the Clear button.

That’s it!

Clear Specific Website Data from Safari (iPad)

Select Settings from your iPad home screen.

Choose Safari from the Settings column on the left.

Scroll way down until you find the Advanced button and give it a tap.

Select Website Data from the Advanced section.

Here you’ll find a list of all the sites that you’ve visited on your iPad. To remove a specific site (or sites), tap the Edit button located towards the upper-right corner of the window.

Now tap the “minus sign” red button button (see screenshot below) next to the site you want to clear. Note: some sites will actually have data stored across multiple domains. For example, in the screenshot below you can see facebook.net listed, but if you want to clear all of the Facebook info from your iPad, you’d also need to delete fbcdn.net since that’s the part of Facebook where things like image files are stored. That’s why sometimes it’s best to just delete all of the stored website data on your iPad – just to make sure you’ve really cleared everything you want deleted.

Each time you select a site to delete you’ll be prompted to confirm it – tap the Clear button in each case.

Now that you know how to clear the cache etc for Safari on your iPad, why not learn how to clear the website data from all of your other devices.

This guide will show you how to configure your browser so when you click a link it loads any web based email as the default “Email App” on your Mac. That way you can use Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, iCloud, outlook.com etc as your default email app – you can even configure your own private/work webmail to work.

There are two parts to this guide – the first is to configure macOS to open your browser when you click on a mail link within a file or App. The second is to configure your browser to open the webmail service (Gmail, Yahoo, etc) of your choice when a mail link is clicked on a web site. If you’re using Safari, you can skip the first step and jump right into configuring Safari for webmail.

Configure macOS for Webmail

Open the Mail app from your Applications folder and then select Mail from the main menu bar and Preferences… from the list of options.

On the General tab, click the ‘up and down arrows’ icon in the Default email reader: field (see screenshot below).

Choose Select… from the list of options.

Navigate to your Applications folder and select the web browser you use most often (the one you want to open when you click an email link in a document or App). Click the Select button after you’ve made your choice.

Make sure that your browser is listed as the Default email reader: and then you can close out of the Mail Preferences and quit the Mail app.

Now when you click on an email link inside of a document or App (something that isn’t your browser) – it will open your browser. In order for your browser to know which email service to use, continue by selecting your browser: Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

Configure Firefox for Webmail

Not so long ago, when you clicked on a mail link in a website in Firefox you had to use an addon in order to specify which one. Now it’s built right into Firefox –

Open the Firefox Preferences by selecting Firefox from the menu-bar and then Preferences… from the list.

Select General from the list of option in the left column, and then scroll down to the Applications section. Locate the item named mailto: and then click the ‘arrow’ icon next to the item in the Action field (see screenshot below).

From here you can choose one of the two “built in” defaults – Gmail or Yahoo. If you want to specify your own Webmail service, or one that’s not listed, click the Application Details… item in the list.

Paste in the address of the web-based email service you use and click the OK button.

Now when you click on a mail link within a web page, Gmail (or whatever mail service you selected) will open up!

Configure Chrome for Webmail

Select Chrome from the menu-bar and then Preferences… from the list of options, or enter chrome://settings/ in the address bar.

Select Privacy and security from the column on the left side of the window.

In the Privacy and security section click the item named Site Settings

Scroll down to the Permissions section and click the Additional permissions item from the list of options, and then Protocol handlers from the expanded menu.

Make sure that Sites can ask to handle protocols is selected.

Now open another browser tab and visit the webmail service you want to set as your default (eg. Gmail). When you visit the page, a “double-diamond” icon will appear in your address bar (see screenshot below) – click it.

Make sure that Allow is selected and then click the Done button.

If you return to the Protocol handlers section of the settings you’ll find your webmail service now listed as the email handler. That means when you click on a mailto link, Gmail will load.

That’s it!

Configure Safari for Webmail

Safari is by far the most annoying of the browsers to let you use Gmail as your default email “app”. If you’re using an old version of Safari, you can use the mailto extension, but that won’t work with current versions. If you set Safari as the default Mail App in macOS and click on a mail link, you’ll get an error similar to the one below:

Fortunately there’s a solution! It’s not free, but a very reasonably priced app ($1.99 USD / $2.79 CAD) named Open in Webmail will let you open any and all mail links in the webmail service of your choice, in Safari.

Start by installing Open in Webmail from the Mac App Store.

Launch the App after it’s installed.

Now open the Mail app from your Applications folder, select Mail from the menu bar and then Preferences… from the list of options. On the General tab, click the Default email reader: item and select Open in Webmail

Back in the Open in Webmail App, select Gmail (or your preferred webmail service). Now you can test it out using the Test it now link in the top part of the app window.

That’s it! Safari will now open Gmail when you click on an email link – regardless as to whether that link is on a web page or in a document.

This guide will explain step by step how to clear the browser history (the list of sites you’ve visited) in most modern web browsers, and many old (legacy) browsers as well.

This list of browsers was first compiled all the way back in 2006. Now it’s been updated to include all modern (2020) popular web browsers, with the old ones still included here but in the Legacy Browsers section.

To learn how to clear (delete) the history of previously viewed or visited web sites, select your web browser below.

Clear The Browser History in Modern Browsers

Google Chrome

To clear the history (and/or cache, cookies etc) in Google Chrome, start out by opening the browser and type the keyboard combination Control + Shift + Delete. This will bring up the Clear browsing data window. Make sure that all 3 items are selected, and then click the Time range menu.

Select All time from the list of options.

Then click the CLEAR DATA button. After that, click the Advanced tab and review the options there as well. You probably don’t need to delete things like your Media licenses, but do consider clearing things like form data, saved passwords etc.

That’s it – Chrome’s clean! :)

Safari

Apple makes it painfully easy to clear your browsing history. Just select Safari from the Apple Menu, and then Clear History… from the pull-down list.

Select all history from the Clear menu and then click the Clear History button.

That’s it – you’ve just cleared the history of sites you’ve been to in Safari!
