How to backup your Google Chrome profiles

This brief tutorial will guide you through backing up your Google Chrome user profiles using the small Windows utility Google Chrome Backup.

1. First you’ll need to download Google Chrome Backup. It also requires the Microsot .NET framework, so install that too if it isn’t already.
2. Unzip Google Chrome Backup and extract the file to somewhere on your hard drive. C:\Program Files\ is one possible location – then you can create a shortcut to it for your Desktop or Quick Launch menu. But anywhere will do.
3. Double-click the exe to launch Google Chrome Backup.
4. In the main window you’ll see each of your profiles listed (as indicated by the screenshot below, I only have one).

5. Right-click the profile you want to backup, and select Backup Profile.

6. Select a location to save your backup, and click Save.

7. The backup process will begin. It takes a minute or two..

8. .. and you can tell it’s done when the status bar is “blank”.

9. You can also use Google Chrome Backup to create new profiles. Just click the New Profile button. Fill out the required information, and click OK.
10. If you opted to create a new shortcut to your new profile on your Desktop, it’ll appear there.
11. Your new profile will also appear in Google Chrome Backup, ready to be backed up :)
