This brief tutorial will guide you through backing up your Google Chrome user profiles using the small Windows utility Google Chrome Backup.
Please note: This guide was published back in 2008 and is now considered out of date. Google has since added the sync feature in Chrome, rendering this guide obsolete.
First you’ll need to download Google Chrome Backup. It also requires the Microsot .NET framework, so install that too if it isn’t already.
Unzip Google Chrome Backup and extract the file to somewhere on your hard drive. C:\Program Files\ is one possible location – then you can create a shortcut to it for your Desktop or Quick Launch menu. But anywhere will do.
Double-click the exe to launch Google Chrome Backup.
In the main window you’ll see each of your profiles listed (as indicated by the screenshot below, I only have one).
