How to Install and Use Different Languages in Windows 7

One of the features of Microsoft Windows 7 is that it is available in multiple languages. This tutorial will show you how to change the language or install new language-packs on your Windows 7 PC.

1. First you have to check whether Windows supports the language you’re wishing to switch to. To do this, open the Control Panel and then Region and Language.

   Note: If you are using the category view, click on Clock, Language and Region.

   Click on Change the date, time or number format.

   Click on the list labeled Formats to see if your preferred language set is already installed.

   Skip steps 2, 3 and 4 if your preferred language is already installed in Windows 7.

2. If you can’t find your preferred language, then you may need to install Windows 7 Language Packs. This can also be done easily by opening the Control Panel and then double clicking Region and Language. In the dialog box, select the Keyboards and Languages tab then click on the Install/uninstall languages… button in the Display language section.
3. A new window will open asking you to install/uninstall display languages. Select Install display languages.
4. In the next window, you will be asked to download the language packs from either Windows Update website or if you have them locally available, browse for them.

5. If you have the language file in your computer, just browser and select the file. Windows will start the installation process.

6. After you’ve installed the language packs, open the Control Panel and in the Clock, Region and Language section, select Change Display Language.
7. Select the Keyboards and Languages tab.
8. Click on the drop down list Choose Display Language and select your preferred language. Click the Apply button.
9. Reboot Windows 7 for the changes to your languages to take effect. Your system will now be in the language of your choice. Enjoy!
