How to clear the browsing history on your Android Tablet

Share

This tutorial will guide you through the steps required to clear the browsing history of your Android Tablet’s web browser.

The process of clearing the history of all the sites from the browser on your Android-based Tablet is slightly different if you’re using an Android phone. If you’re using a phone, you’ll want to see this tutorial. If you’re using a Tablet, keep reading.

Note: this guide assumes you are using the default web browser for Android. If you’re using a 3rd party web browser that you downloaded from the Android Market (like Firefox, Opera or Dolphin HD) – these steps will not clear the history from those browsers.

  1. Launch the Android Browser on your Tablet. Select the ‘menu’ button from the upper-right corner of the Browser window (see image below). Tap Settings from the list.

  2. click to enlarge

  3. Select the Privacy & security item from the left column. Tap the Clear history button.

  4. click to enlarge

  5. You’ll be prompted to confirm that you do indeed want to permanently delete the list of sites you have visited on your Android Tablet. Tap OK.
  6. Now the Clear history entry will be “grayed out”.

  7. click to enlarge

  8. That’s it – you’re done!

  • I knew about these procedures prior to reading them. While I am sure it deletes the history, it does not apparently reset the color of the links on web pages to the blue that they are when they have never been browsed through from the red that they turn to after they are browsed through. Clearing the history on a desktop browser also resets the color of those links so the question becomes what procedure needs to be followed to reset the links? Anybody can figure out what pages I have visited by following the red link trail.
