In preparation for a series of tutorials on The Gimp, this tutorial will guide you in installing X11, a required system for the Gimp to run in OS X. This tutorial is for OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Ce tutoriel est fait pour OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If you’re a 10.3 (Panther) user, visit Si vous êtes un 10.3 (Panther) utilisateur, consultez la page this page cette page to download X11 if it’s not on your OS X install CD. - Insert your OS X Tiger Install Disc (#1). Scroll down to locate the Optional Installs icon (it’s embarrassing how long it took me to figure that out) and double-click it Insérez votre OS X Tiger disque d'installation (# 1). Faites défiler vers le bas pour localiser l'installation icône facultatif (c'est embarrassant combien de temps il m'a fallu pour comprendre cela) et double-cliquez dessus
- Click Continue on the first screen Cliquez sur Continuer sur le premier écran
- Read the Software License Agreement and then click Continue Lire la licence du logiciel puis cliquez sur Continuer
- Click Agree Cliquez accord
- Select a location and (you guessed it) click Continue Choisissez un emplacement et (vous l'aurez deviné) cliquez sur Continuer
- Click the small triangle directly next to Applications and then place a check in the box labeled X11 . Cliquez sur le petit triangle à côté des applications et de les placer une coche dans la case X11. When you’re ready, click Upgrade . Lorsque vous êtes prêt, cliquez sur Mettre à niveau.
- Enter your password when prompted, and then click OK Entrez votre mot de passe lorsque vous y êtes invité, puis cliquez sur OK
- The installation won’t take too long L'installation ne pourra pas prendre trop de temps
- After X11 has successfully installed, click Close Après X11 a installé avec succès, cliquez sur Fermer
- X11 can now be found in Applications > Utilities > X11 X11 peut maintenant être trouvé dans Applications> Utilitaires> X11

Excellent! I am embarrassed to say that I did not notice that the window had other items that had to be scrolled to when I first saw it today as well. Je suis gêné de dire que je n'ai pas remarqué que la fenêtre avait d'autres articles qui avaient à faire défiler à première fois que j'ai vu aujourd'hui ainsi. I knew that I did not want to go through the regular install, because it included all of the base OS X files. Believe it or not I also had problems finding the “Optional Installs” icon!!! Croyez-le ou pas, j'ai également eu des difficultés à trouver la "Installe facultatif" icône! They hide it well . I have been trying to use GIMP and Gimpshop, with no success, I tried also to find J'ai essayé d'utiliser GIMP et Gimpshop, sans succès, j'ai essayé aussi de trouver links liens and sites for it but it gets hard for me to find. et des sites pour, mais il est difficile pour moi de trouver. X11 launches all right, but Gimp doesn’t -or rather, it does, but I have no Menus (File etc). X11 lance de tous les droits, mais Gimp ne pas-ou plutôt, elle le fait, mais je n'ai pas de menus (Fichier, etc.)
When Gimp is running, the only menus at the top of my screen are for X11. Quand Gimp est en cours d'exécution, le seul menu en haut de mon écran sont pour le X11. I cannot process any images that way. Je ne peux pas traiter toutes les images de cette façon.
What is at fault? Ce qui est en faute? X11 or Gimp? X11 ou Gimp?

Install is much the same in Leopard as 10.4. Installer est à peu près le même que dans Leopard 10,4. X is part of the optional installs on the DVD as is Xcode. X fait partie de l'option installe sur le DVD est comme Xcode.

To the best of my knowledge, you can’t. Au meilleur de ma connaissance, vous ne pouvez pas. Apple doesn’t offer X11 for Tiger as a download (or, they didn’t as of 3-4 months ago). Apple n'offre pas de X11 pour Tiger en téléchargement (ou, ils n'ont pas de 3-4 mois). You need the Tiger disc. Vous devez le Tigre disque.
