How to silence a loud video card fan Comment réduire au silence une carte vidéo haut de ventilateur

About a month ago I decided I was going to do something about the insanely loud noise coming from my PC. I incorrectly assumed it was one of the large fans at the back causing what sounded like a jet-engine noise. If you have a new super-fancy card, you’ll probably have to improvise a bit as they can be almost completely encased in the cooling system/fan(s). 1. To make your video card run quietly, you’ll need the following items: Pour que votre carte vidéo terme tranquillement, vous aurez besoin des éléments suivants:
   1. A normal sized Phillips head screwdriver Une taille normale tête tournevis Phillips
   2. A “small” sized Phillips head screwdriver Une "petite" taille tête tournevis Phillips
   3. Ideally, very fine high-grade machine oil. Idéalement, très fine de haute qualité machine pétrole. Sewing machine oil worked fine for me. Machine à coudre huile bien fonctionné pour moi.
   4. A hypodermic syringe. Une seringue hypodermique. If you don’t have one handy, a sewing needle, sharp thumb-tack or push-pin will also work Si vous ne disposez pas d'une pratique, une aiguille à coudre, forte pouce-virer ou push-broche de travail aussi

2. Turn off your PC. Eteignez votre PC. Unplug the power to it. Débranchez le pouvoir de celui-ci. Remove the casing from your computer. Retirez le boîtier de votre ordinateur. Most cases have an “easy access door” on the side, but if you have an older PC you might have to unscrew it from the back. La plupart des cas ont une "porte d'accès facile" sur le côté, mais si vous avez un PC plus que vous pourriez avoir à dévisser de l'arrière.
3. Use the regular size Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew your video card, and carefully remove it from your PC. 4. Use the small size Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the fan onto the heatsink. Utilisez la petite taille tête tournevis Phillips pour enlever les vis qui maintiennent le ventilateur sur le dissipateur thermique.

5. Flip the fan over so it’s face-down. Flip sur le ventilateur, il le visage vers le bas.

6. Fill your syringe with a few drops of machine oil (or sewing machine oil). Remplir la seringue avec quelques gouttes d'huile de machine (ou huile de machine à coudre). Use the needle to inject a drop or two (no more) through the sticker into the ball-bearing cavity. Utilisez l'aiguille pour injecter une chute ou deux (pas plus) par le biais de la vignette dans le roulement à billes cavité. You might have to poke around a couple of times to find the cavity - you’ll know you’ve hit it when the needle punctures the sticker. 7. If you don’t have a syringe and you’re using a sewing needle, thumb-tack or push-pin, poke a hole through the sticker. Carefully put one drop of oil on top of the hole, and use the pin to work the oil through the hole into the ball-bearing cavity. Soigneusement mis une goutte de pétrole au-dessus du trou, et d'utiliser les broches de travail, le pétrole à travers le trou dans le roulement à billes cavité.

8. Now place your finger on top of the small hole created by the needle/pin, and spin the video card fan around a few times. This will work the oil into the bearings. Ceci fonctionne l'huile dans les roulements.
9. Screw the fan back on to the heatsink, and plug your video card back into your computer. Vissez le ventilateur arrière sur le dissipateur, et branchez votre carte vidéo dans votre ordinateur. Plug the power back in, and turn it on. Branchez l'alimentation, et allumez-le. Once your card heats up to the point where the fan turns on, it should be running completely silent!
