How to Stop iPhoto from Launching when you Connect your Phone

This very brief tutorial will show you how to stop iPhoto (or any App) from automatically opening when you plug your phone into your Mac.

  1. Connect your phone to your Mac. Quit iPhoto when it opens. Now launch Image Capture from your Applications folder.

From the DEVICES list, select the entry that represents your phone.

  2. click to enlarge

  3. In the NO NAME column (bottom left corner of the Image Capture window), select No application from the Connecting this camera opens: drop-down menu.

  4. click to enlarge

  5. Going forward, iPhoto will no longer open itself when you plug your phone into your Mac. You can exit out of Image Capture now.

  6. click to enlarge
