How to Disable the “Clicking Sound” on the iPad Keyboard

If the “clicking typewriter” sound you hear each time you tap a key on the iPad’s keyboard annoys you, just follow these quick steps to disable that sound.

This “short and sweet” guide explains how to stop your iPad (or iPhone) from making those typing’ish sounds when you tap on the on-screen keyboard.

  1. Start out by tapping Settings from your iPad home screen.
  2. the iOS Settings button icon

  3. Select Sounds from the Settings column on the left side of the screen.
  4. the iOS Settings menu with an arrow pointing at the Sounds category

  5. Locate the SOUNDS section on the right side of the window and look for the Keyboard Clicks switch – toggle it to the OFF position.
  6. an arrow pointing to the iOS Sound Settings Keyboard Clicks toggle switch

  7. That’s it – no more clicking-clacking typewriter sounds when you’re typing on your iPad!
