How to Add or Remove Desktops in OS X Lion

By default, OS X Lion (10.7) “includes” four desktops. The following steps will show you how to add additional Desktops – or remove existing ones – in OS X Lion.

  1. Launch Mission Control (which can be found in your Applications folder). Hover your cursor in the upper-right corner of the screen and a ‘plus button’ (see image below) will appear. Click that button.
  2. Desktop 5 will now appear. Keep clicking that ‘plus button’ to add additional Desktops.
  3. To remove a Desktop in OS X Lion, launch Mission Control and hover your cursor over the icon that represents the desktop you want to delete. A small ‘x’ will appear (see image below). Click the ‘x’ and that Desktop will be removed.
