This very brief tutorial will show you how to remove the ‘new’ icon – often referred to as “that weird new icon” – from your Android notification bar. It’s the one that’s a lower case i inside of a circle with a line through it (the standard “strike” symbol).
- Long story short – that annoying new icon (as seen below) – simply means you have the Notification service turned off.
- It’s a “new” icon in that it was added with the release of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). To turn on Notifications (which will make the icon go away), open your Android Notification Bar, swipe to the Notification toggle-button and tap it.
- And now the “i” icon is gone!
- Now that you know what the icon is/means, you may want to disable Notifications and just ignore the icon, as the Notification service may not be something you actually want enabled most of the time. This of course depends entirely on your preference.
One call made to me (call goes straight to voicemail) in the call log, this person’s name had a circle with a line thru it and a capital A beside it. Help!!
Thanks!
In all of my tutorials you’re the first person to ever notice that :)
“I’m Rick James” HAHAHAHAHAHA
Galaxy Tab 7.7 running stock Android 4.0.4. I have no “notification” toggle and i can’t figure out how to turn off this icon. Interestingly, I do get notifications for various apps.
Thank you thank you, this has been driving me crazy!
