How to Disable Notification Sounds in Skype for the iPhone

If you don’t want to hear the annoying beeps and sounds that Skype for the iPhone/iPad makes, just follow these few steps to turn them off.

Note: of course this will not disable the actual ‘voice’ feature of Skype, only the notification sounds for messages/calls etc. The screenshots/images used in this guide are from an iPad, the steps themselves are almost identical for iPhones and iPod Touches.

  1. Tap the Settings button on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
  2. Scroll down the Settings column and select Skype. In the Skype column, select Notifications

  3. click to enlarge

  4. To disable the ‘sound notifications’, toggle the ON/OFF switch to OFF. If you want to disable Notifications (the ‘pop-up’ windows that appear when you get new messages/calls etc) – toggle its ON/OFF switch to OFF as well.
  5. That’s it!

  1. An extra step is required. Go to Settings/Notifications/Skype to see the options regarding whether or not you want banner notifications, Alerts or “none”. You also control Sounds on that screen.

  2. Doesn’t work on iPhone 5. All notifications are off. But Skype still makes sounds.
