Using a small and free app you can quickly configure Windows 10 to never reset your app choices again. Here’s how –
Have you noticed that even though you’ve configured Windows 10 to use a specific app when opening a file, it still resets back to one of the default Microsoft programs? This tool will stop that from happening.
- Download the aptly named Stop Resetting My Apps from here. It doesn’t require any installation – you just double-click the downloaded file to run it.
- Now just click the app icon you don’t want to use as the default. For example, if the Photos app opens when you double-click an image file, and that’s not the behaviour you want – click the Photos button. A “red hand” will appear over the icon, indicating that it will stop being reset as the default app.
- That’s it! You can exit out of the app after you’ve made your selections. The apps will continue to work, they just won’t be set as a default from now on.
