Instead of offering help, this time I’m looking for some.
1. Folks who would like to contribute tutorials for Simple Help. Windows and Linux tutorials specifically. You’d be paid on a per post/tutorial basis (via PayPal). It can be a “one off” thing or an ongoing thing, it’s up to you. Think of it as a “paid guest blogger” deal.
2. Someone who has experience customizing WordPress themes. I’ve recently purchased one, for a new site I’ll be doing, and because I’m artistically inept, I need someone to customize it. This project would not involve actual WordPress coding – the theme itself has all of that covered. I’m looking for someone who can take an existing theme and give it a custom look (vs. the “out of the box” look that it has by default). This is, of course, a paid job as well.
If you’re interested in either of the above items, please contact me. Please include links to your previous writing or design work. Thanks!

Update: and that’s it, all 10 invites have been spoken for. As soon as I get more, I’ll offer them up here.

Yes, I previously wrote a tutorial covering how to install Ubuntu 8.04 on your Eee PC. Since then, a new version of “Ubuntu Eee” has been released, 8.04.1. One my favorite new features is that Netbook Remix is now installed by default. So rather than have to install Ubuntu Eee and then Netbook Remix, you can just install this updated version and it’s all done at the same time. Continued…

There’s a well known feature/trick that allows you to right-click using just your trackpad in OS X. What’s slightly lesser known is that the same trick can be extended to XP and Vista running via BootCamp, or guest Operating Systems running in Parallels or VMware Fusion.

The popular web hosting company Dreamhost recently decided to change a policy they had in place that didn’t allow customers to use their storage space to backup files. Now you’re given 50GB of storage space to use as backup. This change in policy does come with one caveat – the backups aren’t backed up. So if for whatever reason the Dreamhost backup server that stores your files happens to die, your files die with it. So while you probably don’t want to make it your primary backup solution, it’s still a nice feature (since you’re already paying for web hosting). This tutorial will guide you through using mathusalem (free backup software) to automatically FTP the files you want to backup to Dreamhost. Continued…
